Jesus was once asked, "What is the Great Commandment?" Jesus summed up all the commands with this: "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." (Mark 12:30)
Jesus taught his disciples, "Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:43–45)
Prior to his departure, Jesus delivered The Great Commission, which has become the central mission of his church. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," (Matthew 28:19)
The good work of making disciples includes teaching all Christ taught during his earthy ministry. Teaching has thus been a central feature of the local church for 2000 years. Jesus said, "Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. "Matthew 28:20)
The Bible is alive and active and speaks into every area of life. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Prayer is a gift and our connection with God. That is why we emphasize prayer and encourage people to pray always about everything. "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16)
The objective of service is to grow in Christ. When we serve God via people, we grow in ways not previously understood. The best place to learn service is in your home. When that happens good service can then expand to the local church, then community, and finally into the world beyond.
The greatest mission trip ever: Christ left heaven and came to earth. Born of a virgin he was robed in flesh. He lived a perfect life, was crucified on the cross. He shed blood. He died, was buried, then rose again. He then returned home. He now calls us to go to all nations and preach the gospel.
